Breaking Laces
The Aspinall Arms January 2008
“Well
this is somewhat delayed, mostly because we played a few shows here, and it's
hard to pick out what special events might have occurred on this night. I
know we were strong on our set, especially some of the new songs that we
were very shaky on when we came out to the UK. And we did blow some of
these out, to an eager audience that knew this was the last time they might
see us for a while.
I do remember that a lot of friends came out to see us, people we love
dearly now, even though we've spent such a relatively short time in the UK.
But it made it a special night that so many people from this tour and the
last came out to wish us a fond farewell. Simon made sure the Wobbly Bob, a
stronger local brew, was in full swing, and the Laces promptly drained the
keg clean.
In the absence of strong details of the night, i should take this moment to
heartfully thank Simon and the crew at Aspinall Arms. McLovin (Marco),
Martin, Ralph, Rachel, Steph, Jill, and now this is the part where people
will be mad at me because I didn't remember everyone or everyone's name.
But you wonderful people are missed dearly, and thanked heartily for a
great time every night we stayed there.
We had a blast, and we hope you did too...”

Jana
Peri
New York, USA
based Jana
Peri is an electrifying live performer whose shows never fail to get crowds
on their feet and dancing.
In late September 2005 Jana and her band
embarked on a ten-day tour of the UK, playing high profile gigs in major cities
as well as more intimate shows in small towns including two great shows at The
Aspinall Arms. Jana’s album “Catching Flies with
Vinegar” (see review) is definitely well worth a listen and you can catch
tracks from it by visiting either Jana’s web page or Myspace sites which
are linked below We very much look forward to a return visit sometime in
the future?

Hey
there!
”We had an absolute fantastic time at the Aspinall! Never felt such at home
at a gig ;-) We drove back on Saturday morning and because of our bus broke
down 20 miles above London (reducing top speed to about 40 mph), it took us
about 22 hours to get back home... After a night like the night before
(haven't counted the beers and cocktails.) that was quite the ride. But it
was definitely worth it! We'll off course send the new CD when it's ready.
Greets to you all

Friday the
13th. Something strange was bound to happen. Bluesbunny gets the beers in
anyway. It's Copper Dragon ale. So far, so good. Nearly 9pm. No sign of a
band anywhere. Bluesbunny is getting worried. Might well be trapped here
with only beer to distract us from reality. No need to panic just yet. They
have not run out of beer….

The Ragamuffins regulars at The Aspinall Arms...
An extended 3 hour plus set showed just how talented
local singer songwriter David Jaggs and his band are.
An eclectic mix
of covers ranging from Neil Young , to the La’s “There she Goes” plus
tracks from superb sampler EP ”Hit The Ground Running” demonstrated plenty
of Merseyside influences plus a touch of the Kinks maybe?
Whatever, if you enjoy your music, live,
fun, and played with huge enthusiasm this band are a must see.
